Fitzgerald's Lager Run

Summer evening races – always a potentially hot and humid expedition. 1,061 runners came out on an evening that alternated between humid drizzles with threats of thunder and breaks of sun. The course goes through residential neighborhoods and is advertised as a net downhill. Remember, though, what goes down must first (or next) go up! The course doesn’t have any steep hills, but there are several rises, one of which is somewhat long (at least I thought so!). Rose City had a terrific turnout for this race! It was the masters women’s team championship, but we also had several men come out to race and support their teammates. Our Rose City 40s women placed 15th and the 50s women placed 12

President's Cup 5K

President’s Cup 5K, June 15, 2015 The President’s Cup in Millburn is always a well attended race. You can generally count on hot, muggy conditions and frequent rain showers. This year brought slightly lower temperatures, but the humidity was a factor. The rain showers held off, although earlier storms snarled traffic for many runners trying to get to the race. The course is two loops around town. A two-loop course means running up a long, gradual hill twice – you know it’s coming on that second loop! This race was the men’s open 5K team championship. 1,242 runners completed the course. The top two men came in just under 15:00! The first woman came in at just over 18:00. Rose City en

College Avenue Mile, June 6, 2015

Nearly 300 runners took to the streets of New Brunswick on a warm June evening to challenge themselves with two loops around the block. Some people think this is fun J The first male crossed the finish line in 4:21 and the first female crossed in 5:02. Runners are grouped into age divisions, and the two-loop course gives spectators great opportunities to cheer for their teammates, especially if you are willing to dash from the start/finish line to the ¼ mile mark. Rose City entered one team – the 40s women placed 8th in a very competitive field. All of our runners turned in amazing times in this very challenging event! Congratulations! There are great photos on the Garden State Track Clu
