Ashenfelter 8K (belated -sorry!)

Ashenfelter 8K, November 26, 2015The Ashenfelter 8K, named in honor of Horace Ashenfelter, who competed in the Helsinki Olympics, always draws a good turnout. This year’s good weather drew 3,100 runners to Glen Ridge for the 8K, plus a few hundred more for the 1-mile race. Thanksgiving morning started out with chilly temperatures, but the bright sun quickly warmed things up. It certainly didn’t feel like Thanksgiving at race time – the temperatures were more like early October! I always forget how many long, gradual hills there are on this course, but no one forgets about the short, steep hill about 0.5 miles from the finish line. USATF-NJ News and Reminders Don’t forget to renew your USATF membership, especially if you are running New Year’s Day! The 2016 team schedule should be posted soon – stay tuned! The individual Grand Prix results are in! Several of our team members placed in their age groups in the various competitions. The annual banquet will be held on January 16. It’s always a fun evening – come out and celebrate with us! We’ll have a full update on the winners in the next newsletter, along with a report on the team standings.
