The Rose City racing team officially kicked off the season at the Clinton Country Run – always a great race. Although the sun was shining brightly, a brisk wind kept runners huddled in warmer clothes until just before race time.
This race is somewhat deceptive – the hills don’t kick in until about mile 5, when runners are presented with a series of rolling hills outside of the town of Clinton. But the kicker comes at mile 8.5, when runners have to climb back up to the race finish.
Rose City entered six teams in the competition:
50s Men – 7th place
60s Men – 7th place
Open Women – 8th place
40s Women – 10th place
50s Women – 5th place
60s Women – 2nd place.
Lee Brush, Eileen O’Brien and Joe B. also competed in the 5K event. They joined Cande Olsen and Jay Fisher in cheering in the 15K runners.
Thanks to everyone who ran the 15K this year! Welcome to some new runners – Susan, Sue and Carol! We all had a great time at Lee and Lynda’s house afterward – thank you for hosting!
There are some great pictures from the race and the after-party on Facebook – check them out.
Next up for the team is the Newport 10K on May 2 – this is an open race, fast and flat.
