The cross country 8K race returned to Natirar on October 23rd. Natirar is a Somerset County park, formerly the King of Morocco’s estate. It’s a beautiful setting for a race, Peapack Brook runs through the park, the leaves were changing, it was a crisp, sunny fall day. But then there are the hills! Only two hills, really. But you have to run them each twice. (Oops, someone forgot to tell Vivian about the hills). Rose City Runners are used to hills, though, so this course was no problem. We fielded a 40s women’s team (9th place) and a 50s women’s team (7th place) for this challenging race.
Thanks to all our runners for coming out for a beautiful fall race. Welcome to Elizabeth, who did her first race with the team. Thanks to Denise for giving the course a try, despite injury, to Lynda for her cheering and photography skills and to Janice for cheering!
Next up is the Giralda 10K on November 13th, which is a team race for the masters men. Please let Kathy know if you plan to race, and also please try to find a friend or family member to help with volunteer tasks, or work with our super race organizers to identify a pre or post race volunteer position.
We’ll finish out the season with the Ashenfelter 8K (for all divisions) on Thanksgiving morning. What better way to kick off the holiday! It’s not too early to let Kathy
know if you plan to run this race.
