The Ashenfelter 8K on Thanksgiving Day is always a well attended race as people come out to earn their turkey and stuffing. Nearly 3,000 runners competed in 2016! The weather forecast early in the week called for rain, but Mother Nature smiled on us. The sun broke through just enough to brighten the day, but not so much that we roasted. The race travels through the neighborhoods of Glen Ridge. Runners have to pass the finish line once before they get to cross it.
Rose City fielded two women’s teams: The 40s women placed 17th and the 50s women placed 13th. Note that there were a total of 117 teams entered in the various age divisions! Nan Masterson took home a great jacket for her age group place. Thanks to all our runners for coming out, and thanks to John Flanagan for cheering us on.
Ashenfelter was the last team championship race for the season. We should see the 2017 championship list soon, so watch your email boxes so you can mark your calendars.
