This is always a popular race, and has been a men’s championship 5K many times.. The USATF-Long Distance Committee decided to try something new this year – a coed team competition! It always seems to rain on the day of this race, and this year the weather did not disappoint. Severe weather around the state threatened all afternoon – the brave runners who ventured to Millburn were rewarded with beer after the race! Rose City entered an open and a masters team, each of which placed 6th. The open men and masters men were ranked 6th as well. The open women ranked 3rd and the masters women ranked 4th. Our runners also did very well in their age groups – check out the full results below. Thanks to everyone who braved the weather, and to Beth who filled in as team captain!
Fitzgerald’s Lager Run 5K
Well, two races in one week where the reward is beer….More than 1,100 runners participated in the Lager Run 5K, which was the open men’s championship. Although Rose City did not field a team, Lou, Dick and Michael took on the course with great results. Dick is working on domination of the 70s age group and took home his second age group award in a week! Congratulations!
There are no more team races until late August – make sure your calendars are marked for the rest of this season’s outings.
