The team kicked off the racing season with two great races in Newark and Clinton. We had a strong turnout that I hope will set the stage for the rest of the season. Check out the race reports in my previous posts. Some good pics from Clinton are there too..
Next up will be the President’s Cup 5K in Millburn on May 19. This race has long been a runner’s favorite, perhaps for the beer after the race? The race directors are trying something different this year; the race has been moved from a June Monday evening to a May Sunday afternoon. It’s the open men’s championship, but hopefully we’ll have a good turnout from the club.
After President’s Cup, we have a little break, then there are two 5Ks in June – the New Milford 5K and the Lager Run 5K.
Although May only hosts one team championship race, we’ll have good representation at the Our House 4-mile on May 11. This should be a great chance for club recruiting in Summit. Hopefully many of you can join the fun. Link: https://runsignup.com/Race/NJ/Summit/OurHouse
If you’re looking for a different type of challenge, join me and some of our Hill Runners of Hunterdon teammates at the Beautiful Beast 15K on June 8. This race goes through Ken Lockwood Gorge, one of the prettiest spots in New Jersey. Much of the course is on the Columbia Trail. :Link: https://beautifulbeast.itsyourrace.com/event.aspx?id=8658. Make sure to sign up as part of the HRH team. This could be another good chance to advertise RC2. It’s the third year for this race and it’s gaining popularity.
