Spring Racing
Although the USATF-NJ team championship Grand Prix is still in limbo, the 2021 racing season started out with a mix of virtual and in-person events. The Cherry Blossom 10K went to a virtual format. Brian Angle and Michael Lin opted to run the actual course, while several of the RC2 women’s team opted for the Columbia Trail (and brunch!). The Clinton Country Run was an in-person race on a beautiful day. Brian Angle (6th in his age group!), Ed Leydon (2nd in this age group!) and Carol Morman (3rd in her age group1) ran the 15k and George Grosso (7th in his age group!) ran the 5K, while Kathy Hale was at the water stop cheering them on.

Speaking of the USATF-NJ team championship Grand Prix, there is hope for a 2021 series. The Long Distance Running (LDR) Committee and USATF-NJ leadership are working with race directors to set up a condensed Grand Prix, hopefully starting in August. Races that were scheduled to be part of the 2020 series will hopefully be able to be run in-person later this year. Stay tuned for more information, and keep running!
